Austro-Iranian Symphony Orchestra to perform at Rudaki Hall

The Austro-Iranian Symphony Orchestra (AISO) will give a performance at Tehran’s Rudaki Hall on October 28.
Austrian musician Christian Schulz will conduct the orchestra, which is scheduled to perform pieces by contemporary Iranian and Austrian composers, orchestra director Maziar Yunesi told the Persian service of ISNA on Sunday.


‘The Past’ nabs award in Norway

Oscar-winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi’s Paris-set drama The Past (Le Passé) has garnered award at the 23rd Oslo International Film Festival (OIFF).

Foreign tourist arrivals up

More than 3.093 million foreign tourists arrived in Iran during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), Iran Daily reported.
According to the report released by IRNA, the figure shows an increase of 26 percent compared with the figure for the same period of preceding year, which was 2.457 million.

Iran shorts to vie in US, Canada

Iranian filmmaker Seyyed Reza Safi’s two short productions have been selected to compete at the Canadian and American international film festivals.
Safi’s 90-second film, Point Of View is to partake in the 13th Silverview International Film Festival in Canada that will be held from November 7 to 10.

Persian poet Hushang Ebtehaj commemorated

Celebrated Persian poet Hushang Ebtehaj, known by the pseudonym of H. E. Sayeh, was commemorated by the Persian literary magazine Bokhara during a session at the Persian Language Center in Tehran on Sunday.

Toronto cinema complex honors Iranian director

York Cinemas, a Toronto theater complex dedicated to playing movies in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Telugu, honored the Iranian director Puran Derakhshandeh during a ceremony on October 25.
