Amol Attractions

Amol is one of the central cities of Mazandaran province, which extends to Alborz Mountain Range from the south and the plain of Haraz River from the north.
Haraz River runs through the city and pours into the Caspian Sea, IRIB reported.
According to studies, Amaard Tribe, which had migrated to Mazandaran province thousands of years ago, settled down in Amol because this region was more developed than other places.
In fact, Amol is one of the most ancient cities of Mazandaran. A number of historians and geographers believe it was established in 1st Millennium BC.
History
Based on evidences, including the coins found during excavations in addition to Muslim historical books, Amol was the capital of Mazandaran province during the Sassanid Era.

It is evident that in ancient times, Amol was one of the most developed and populous cities of Mazandaran.
In addition to accounts in ancient historical books about the region, historical works indicate the grandeur of the city and its construction in ancient times. The historical background of the reconstruction remains unknown.
However, due to a number of natural disasters, such as flash floods and quakes, in addition to wars, including the invasion of Iran by Mongol troops in 795 AH (after hegira), Amol was largely destroyed and later reconstructed.

In addition to having moderate climate, vast coastal belt, forested regions and mineral springs, the presence of historical and religious monuments, such as the tomb of Mir Qavameddin Marashi, Shrine of Imamzadeh Ebrahim and Davazdah Cheshmeh Bridge, have turned this city into a top tourist destination.
